"It was two years ago when I came across the job post for a Manager position in the Deal Advisory Department. I had previously worked on the buy-side in the field of distressed assets and had collaborated with several advisory firms - so I thought I had a fairly good understanding of how the market works… or so I believed.

I was fully aware of the significance of the KPMG brand, but I can’t hide that I was hesitant at first. I had seen the job posting a long time ago but only decided to apply after a friend of mine forwarded it to me.

Irrespective of where you are in the walk of life, the focus in career progression is … progression. What environment am I looking for that can nurture my growth? That was the key question for me at the time, and that’s what ultimately led me to take the leap.

Everyone involved in the onboarding process made sure that I would feel welcome and safe to bring my experience to the way we manage projects. Two years later, I can confidently say that the exposure and experience I’ve gained in this role are unmatched compared to anything I’ve done before.

Our work stretches across the financial spectrum, and our clients are major financial institutions that trust us to advise them in deal closing.

We get to work with key stakeholders knowing that they expect nothing but the highest ethical and professional standards. This entails that as a team we need to fully grasp the nature of the transaction, the interests of the parties involved and how these shape our clients’ best interest. This is a demanding process that shows the real impact our work has on the economy.

This does not mean that there are no bumps in the road, those are inevitable. But you choose to stay based on how those bumps are treated. We do go through high-pressure seasons, but we do that together.

This is a great mix of company culture and people with a shared mindset, who not only trust each other, but also trust that when the going gets tough, they are not alone."
